What is PTSD?
PTSD stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It occurs after someone had undergone a severely traumatic and terrifying life event. These people continue to carry around this pain with them long after the event has occurred, and the only way for many of them to recover is through comprehensive PTSD treatment. Some examples of events that are common among patients with PTSD include:
- Serious car accidents
- Sexual assault or rape
- Physical or sexual abuse during childhood
- Cognitive impairment
