While your family and friends are a large part of your support system, the relationships made during treatment are also essential. You need peers that are going through similar struggles as you. While friends and family are empathetic, your peers from recovery treatment will have a better understanding of your journey. Your peers understand the headspace you’re currently in and can help you through your struggles. Family members want to support you, but they can’t understand how you’re feeling or thinking because they don’t fully understand the process. Peers can help talk you through triggers and remind you why you want to recover and how you can stay sober.
STAY CONNECTED AFTER TREATMENT WITH OUR ALUMNI PROGRAM
When you participate in a treatment program, you find yourself surrounded by peers and counselors that understand you. Whether they’re helping you make better decisions or they’ve stood in your shoes and can offer advice, these people become your family. However, the idea of leaving these people after treatment can be a daunting thought. However, with an alumni program, that support system is never far.
Morningside Recovery dedicates its establishment to supporting clients who graduate from treatment. We understand that while in treatment, clients develop lasting relationships as they recover and discover themselves. We know they share experiences and a common bond. Our clients become one another’s foundation for support and an extended family for one another. The Morningside Recovery rehab center is committed to maintaining these relationships as our clients transition from treatment to their life during their recovery. These supportive relationships help our alumni maintain sobriety, continue with good health, and live a life free of addiction. The Morningside Recovery alumni program is here to help strengthen these relationships while increasing the chances of lasting recovery.
BENEFITS OF THE ALUMNI PROGRAM
CONTINUED SUPPORT
Early recovery is challenging. Our alumni program provides a safe and supportive environment that offers regular activities, events, and service opportunities. We also want to stay in touch with our alumni members through phone calls, emails, text messages, and social media. We want to check in on everyone and make sure our alumni stay on the path to lasting recovery.
SOCIAL EVENTS
Morningside Recovery believes it’s imperative to learn to have fun in sobriety. Every Wednesday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm, we treat alumni to dinner and other activities. We value our alumni and our goal is to keep you on track with your recovery. Recent activities include Quarterly VIP events, K1 Speedway Racing, movie nights and Disneyland trips.
PEER LEADERSHIP
Peer leaders are current clients who we select to help support our growing community. They provide encouragement and guidance to clients in treatment as they begin their own journey into recovery. As a peer leader, you support new clients, help facilitate both Friday night community meetings and Saturday’s Waves in recovery meetings. Additionally, peer leaders maintain contact with Morningside Recovery’s alumni program.
SHARED EXPERIENCES
Morningside Recovery’s Alumni Program design is to help clients to establish lasting and fulfilling relationships and build healthy lifestyles in their recovery. By sharing your personal experience at Morningside Recovery, you can help others who are struggling to seek treatment through our Ambassador Program.
