We offer non 12 step-based treatment programs for clients who are seeking options that are neither faith-based or spiritually-based. The “higher power” concept isn’t for everyone, so we offer options to help these clients find a way of recovery that works for them. There are many treatment options available and many professionals support alternative non 12 step treatment options.
Most treatment providers follow the traditional 12 step model, which while it has shown to helpful for some, isn’t always effective for everyone. This form of treatment focuses on the idea that addiction to drugs and alcohol is seen as the central focus of recovery. It focuses on the addiction and works outward from it. 12 Step programs also place a high importance in finding a higher power.
Non-traditional options, such as SMART Recovery, look at recovery from a different perspective. They believe that addiction plays a large role, but that there are other underlying issues that heavily influence the problem and need to be addressed. These alternative options do not involve any concept of a “higher power”. They place credit completely in the hands of the individual and promote complete self-reliance. They promote self-empowerment and taking complete responsibility of your own recovery.
There is no one-size-fits-all method for recovery. While traditional 12 step methods have been around the longest, there are other effective alternatives that help many people to overcome their addictions, find piece within themselves and build the life they’ve always wanted.
We offer treatment to fit the needs of clients from all different beliefs are available. If you are an an atheist and seeking a non faith based means of addiction treatment, we are here to help. You don’t have to believe in a higher power to get help. All you need is the willingness to change and stay teachable.
