Marijuana is bar-none the most widely used illegal drug in the United States. Many states have legalized medical marijuana and over the years, the stigma attached to it has lessened. While for many, it may be a short-term habit and for some, just done on occasion, it can be detrimental to people’s health and may lead to marijuana addiction.
Despite all of the media coverage and legislation moving towards it being legalized, weed is addictive and its abuse is often desensitized and thrown away as simply a bad habit. It has never once killed anyone, but it can impair their judgment and most definitely hinder them from living a productive life.
Many young adults start abusing weed at a young age and it typically opens the door towards trying other harder drugs like cocaine, psychedelics, and opiates. While this doesn’t necessarily mean everyone who abuses weed moves onto other substances, marijuana addiction on its own cause a number of problems.
