Many famous people have used meditation to help cope with the stress of their hectic, busy lives to keep their cool and maintain their level of professionalism. Below I’ll point out some famous people who have used meditation – maybe they will inspire you to do the same.
Sir Paul McCartney
That’s right! A member of the legendary rock band The Beatles is a devout believer in meditation. The timeless singer uses meditation as a go-to source for calmness that he can use at any time.
“In moments of madness, meditation has helped me find moments of serenity – and I would like to think that it would help provide young people a quiet haven in a not-so-quiet world,” he says. “It was a great gift that Maharishi gave us. For me, it came at a time when we were looking for something to stabilize us towards the end of the crazy sixties. It’s a lifelong gift, something you can call on at any time.”
The immensely popular talk show host, philanthropist, and producer uses meditation alone and with her employees to help them become centered, focused, and relaxed in their busy lives.
“I brought the teachers to my company. So we started meditating. Seven of us lead to 70, led to 270, led to now everyone in the company meditates,” she says. “Nine o’clock in the morning and 4:30 in the afternoon, no matter what is going on, we stop and we meditate. And that way of being ‘still’ with ourselves – coming back to the center – and recognizing that something is more important than you, it’s more important than the work you are doing, brings a kind of energy and an intensity of energy, an intention that we have never had before. And you can’t imagine what has happened in the company. People who used to have migraines don’t. People are sleeping better. People have better relationships. People interact with other people better. It’s been fantastic. So the one thing I want to continue to do is to center myself everyday and make that a practice for myself because I am one thousand percent better when I do that, one thousand percent better when I take myself back to something bigger than myself.”
The cowboy himself, Clint Eastwood, has been using meditation for over 40 years. The actor famous for western films like Dirty Harry uses it to relieve the stress of everyday life.
“I’m a great supporter of Transcendental Meditation,” he says. “I’ve been using it for almost 40 years now – and I think it’s a great tool for anyone to have, to be able to utilize as a tool for stress. Stress, of course, comes with almost every business. … I think there are enough studies out there that show that TM is something that could benefit anybody. It’s a great system to use. Otherwise, why would I’ve been doing it for all these years, for almost half of my life?”
