Legalized Gay Marriage Across the US
In a historic decision, The Supreme Court ruled that the right to same-sex marriage is guaranteed by the Constitution and effectively legalized gay marriage. Gay marriage is now legal nationwide. The 14 states with bans on gay marriage will no longer be able to prevent gay couples from marrying. Many gay couples in Texas, Ohio, Georgia, Michigan, and other states with bans, have already tied the knot just hours after news of the Supreme Court ruling.
The landmark Supreme Court decision comes after more than a decade of legal battles, and growing public support for gay marriage. Massachusetts was the first state to legalize same-sex marriage in 2004. Now, every gay person in American has the right to marry. This is a very proud moment in our nation’s history. Morningside Recovery congratulates the LGBTQ community on this victory for equality and love.
