Recovery Road Tells the Story of a Teenager and Her Struggles in Early Sobriety
Premiering Monday, January 25 on Freeform (formerly ABC Family), Recovery Road tells the story of Maddie, a young and rebellious teenager who is mandated to a sober living facility. At first, she is apprehensive and like many of us in recovery, she is in denial of her condition and doesn’t see herself as having a problem. The series chronicles her experiences with hitting rock bottom, learning acceptance and finding her way in her recovery. It’s an authentic look at recovery.
An Authentic Look at Recovery and How to Get There
Based on the popular novel by Blake Nelson, this show is truly original in the fact that it gives a different perspective on the world of addiction and recovery. They are not occasional subplots in the background but are the central focus of the show. Almost always, TV shows and movies depict addiction from a point of view of the societal stigma. They rarely take an in-depth look at the recovery process. This show, Recovery Road, gives genuine insight into the addiction treatment process and the struggles that many Americans must endure in their initial phases of recovery.
