On Friday, May 8, 2015, we set out on a Lake Havasu adventure in Arizona. Lake Havasu is surrounded by picturesque mountains and beautiful desert. Its sandy lake beaches, pristine water, and breathtaking landscape make it the perfect destination for relaxation and adventure.
Day One
When we arrived to camp, we worked together as a team to set up our tents and camping gear. We ventured to the water and watched the beautiful sunset. At night we enjoyed a great dinner of grilled chicken, green beans, and corn. While sitting around the campfire making S’mores we discussed recovery and planned our adventures for the next day.
Day Two
On Saturday we woke up to beautiful weather and a hearty breakfast of hot oatmeal and coffee. We headed out to the lake and rented a boat by the London Bridge. We took the boat out and cruised around the lake. We found a secluded spot to swim and dive off the sandy cliffs. It was a great bonding experience for everyone. Many of the clients expressed astonishment at how much fun they could have sober. After the boat ride we returned to the campsite to enjoy lunch and spend even more time playing in the water and on the beach. Saturday night we cooked steaks and sang songs around the campfire. Watching the sunset reminded us why we are so grateful to take part in this amazing experience.
Day Three
Sunday morning it was time to say goodbye to Lake Havasu. Although we were sad to go, clients left with new hope for a healthy and happy life without alcohol or drugs. Exploring, relaxing, and camping in nature made for an unforgettable adventure.
