Good morning David,

I wanted to take a few minutes to tell you how thrilled I am with all of your staff members and everything that is happening with Steve. As a result of the horror show at Connor Ranch I was faced with one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make. Steve and I spent many days visiting programs and meeting with staff members. There is no doubt that Steve was down to his last "final chance". Not only would this be a life changing choice it was a huge financial commitment by us.

It is very clear that we made the right choice and that Steve is finally getting the help he so desperately needs. Over the years I have met with many companies and groups both in the work place as well as for personal needs. It is quite easy to talk a great story but, altogether different to deliver on what you promise. As I'm sure you know many companies fail on the delivery part.

I am happy to say that your staff has come thru with flying colors!!! In a very short time everything that was talked about is starting to fall in place. Lynn called me earlier this week and we had a very nice conversation. It was so nice to hear her positive feedback on Steve. She actually told me that Steve was a pleasure to work with. Boy, has it been a long time since I have heard such positive words spoken about Steve. I faxed a request to Jaime this week requesting some assistance with paperwork for Steve and she took care of it as soon as she received it. Last night Reanna left a phone message also following up on Steve. She also had positive words for us and I plan on returning her call today.

With all of this being said I realize that Steve has just begun his road to sobriety. There is no question that he is with the people who will help him continue on that road. When I spoke with Lynn I told her that one of the best changes with Steve is that he is starting to enjoy life again. It is so nice when we hear from him to hear him laughing and enjoying life. We haven't heard that in close to 5 years. As an added bonus----Sharon and I are also starting to enjoy life again and have had a few laughs ourselves. It's nice!!

You should be very proud of all of the members of your team and please pass on our heartfelt thanks to all of them. Thank you David and I'll talk to you soon.

Gene

Jill,

As you know, my son Chris will finish his treatment program at Morningside this week. He has been clean and sober for nearly 10 months after 10 years of drug and alcohol abuse. I want to thank you and everyone at Morningside for helping Chris get to this point, especially Joe Testone. I know Chris would not be where he is without Joe’s unwavering support and guidance. Not only did he help Chris, but his weekly calls helped me rebuild a relationship with Chris that I thought was lost forever.

I know everyday is a new day and that Chris will struggle with addiction the rest of his days. But, I am comforted by the thought that for the first time in his struggle, Chris now has a solid foundation on which to build a new life.

With all my heart, thanks to you, Joe and everyone at Morningside.

To all Staff at Morningside,

Thank you all so much for helping me become the man I am today.  Before I entered treatment I was lost, and now I am found.  I am on my way to so much success.  I truly cannot thank you all enough.  I will stop by and say hi and let you all know how I’m doing because my life is only going up hill from here on out.  Thanks again.
Much love,
James B.

We have been thoroughly pleased with the attention and care given by Morningside to our daughter.  We searched for recovery programs around the country, and Morningside seemed to be a leader in treatment and long term recovery methods especially for young adults with a dual diagnosis. They have shown us that they truly are committed to helping the addict recover. Morningside has a stable of professionals available from the point of detox and evaluating your loved one’s underlying issues, to providing the right kind of living environment and structure.  This level of support has allowed our daughter to regain her insight and return to making healthy life choices including returning to school, which has been very good for her confidence.  Everyone is different, and Morningside seems able to tailor a recovery program that’s right for the individual. We’re beginning to see our bright and goal oriented daughter once again.

It is with deep respect and gratitude that I write this testimonial letter.  Last October my daughter arrived at your program as a 19-year-old alcoholic.  Her world (and her family’s) had been turned upside-down.  We all mourned the loss of the life we thought she would be living that year-going off to one of the several universities to which she had been accepted as a college freshman along with her twin sister.  Instead she was faced with the choice of jail time or a residential treatment after getting involved with the criminal justice system following a DUI.  I had looked online for programs and had called at least 15 that looked promising.  Morningside had a mandatory 90-day program while many required only 30 days.  Research shows that 30 days is rarely enough for the kinds of changes needed to end an addiction.  It seemed that this program was committed to helping people make long-term changes.  It also served many clients who were young adults.  The director had several phone conversations with me and with my daughter.  In the end, I chose Morningside because I just had a feeling it was the right place.

My daughter has wrestled with many demons in her inner world, but at that point was not willing to face them.  Self-medicating with alcohol and marijuana was not an option anymore in a residential program, and she had to begin looking at the world with new eyes and find different tools to deal with her issues. Morningside has given her that and more. The program’s commitment to connecting clients with AA and rediscovering an awareness of spirituality has given my daughter a sense of purpose and a lifeline that she can use wherever she goes.  Morningside also provides transportation, support, and tutoring for clients to take classes at the local community college.  My daughter will finish her time in the program with a semester of college completed.

The Family Weekend was one of the most intense and healing two days of my life.  The doctor who spoke explained the neurological basis of addiction in a clear and eloquent presentation.  The therapist was masterful at helping us all open ourselves to each other with honesty and compassion.  Somehow she turned a roomful of sad, angry and defensive people into a group of families who shared old and deep wounds, some for the first time, and then she put us back together again.  We all walked away with more forgiveness in our hearts.

Every professional who works at Morningside has dealt with addiction issues of his or her own, and has lived the experience of healing oneself that we wished for our sons and daughters that weekend.  They develop relationships with their clients based on honesty, respect, and hope.  They have given my daughter the support she needed to believe in herself again, tools to maintain sobriety, and a deep and abiding reason to be hopeful about life.  She and I are forever grateful.

With deepest thanks,
An Indebted Mother
